Two years ago, Pepe Mogt was placed in custody while crossing from Tijuana to San Diego. The customs officer found his trunk very suspicious. It was full of weird sound sampling devices, just like the ones that are used in electronic music live performances. Actually, Pepe (aka “Fussible”) had a gig that night. He finally did perform because the officer recognized him as the head of Nortec Collective, a group of musicians and Dj’s that combine tecno aesthetics with the sounds of the traditional northwest Mexican music.
The officer apologized, asked him for an autograph and let him go.
